Comment...
ahh, the timeless flourescent lights. goes good with mogwai, too.
sitting in the vegas airport, about to fly the redeye to nyc to see my doggie. poker in casinos rules. makes me feel like a sucker for playing blackjack in the past. woot.
woo flying back from la. just had an amazing night. mmm I love radiohead. mmm.
Just got back from LA. Had an amazing night there with Ian Julie and Fritz. I'm just unable to adequately convey how great Radiohead at the Hollywood Bowl was. That good. But now I'm ridiculously tired. I'm going to go nap on the couch in a second. Note to self: [long version] when you're out having a good time, drinking, and talking to people, try not to make an ass of yourself. thanks. [short version] shut the fuck up It's funny how sometimes I feel like writing everything that I experience down, and putting it somewhere like here so everybody can share. But then other times I feel like me having the experiences I have and being able to hoard them makes them that much sweeter. But writing them down is the fun part. I could never quite write a diary, though. I can't stand the idea of pouring my soul into something and then not sharing it with the world. Winamp 5 is coming along good. Looks like the big launch date is pushed to early November. This is taking forever. But at least it'll give us time to make the it pretty solid. Good times. While they last. Mmm sleepy. (later) The sleeping on the couch didnt work so well. Just had good cheesesteak tho. Been reading 'Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters'. So damned good. Crazy to think that it was written in the 50s.
waiting for my food at the boulangerie, its damned hot outside
Just got home, long flight. Riding in the cab away from NYC made me feel very lonely. Riding away from San Francisco, for example, doesn't. Maybe it's because SF is home, or maybe it's because SF has a bit more natural beauty. NYC looked dark and imposing. I looked at it, not knowing where my woman was among the hugeness. On the plane, there was an amazing show on the discovery channel. It was called 'Living with Tigers', and these guys were talking tiger cubs who were born in captivity to the wild, and teaching them how to hunt. Got home a few minutes ago, pushing the door against piles of mail that had accumulated from the mail slot. Such a lousy feeling, coming home to an empty house after a long trip, alone. Ah but cheer up lad, there's work to do, and people to go see tomorrow. I should go to sleep, so I can get up in the morning and wash some clothes. G'night all.
So I bought that directional antenna, but it wasnt necessary -- I get decent signal from a neighbor in this apartment with my plain ol' Lucent card. Yay. Pretty nice, tunneling aim/irc/web/sos through ssh, too, so I dont have to worry about being sniffed. :) Well, not that I'm terribly worried, but might as well. Added some new AVS effects, at mig's request. Gonna make AVS for wa5 good mmm.
Going to NYC for a week, yay. Allison's going to school there for a few months, so I'll be back and forth a bit. Bought a nice wifi antenna, for fun warwalkingaroundandstuff. ha ha.
Been a bit. Got an RS6. happy happy. Been playing with UltraVNC. It's pretty good.. just a few bugs that need fixing. Also realized today how easy it is to sniff VNC traffic using ethereal. Makes me hesitant to use it for somethings, but fortunately UltraVNC has `DSM' support. Unfortunately it's not quite ready for real use yet (features missing, and the way it is integrated is a little bit on the inefficient side). Also, there are a few somewhat annoying bugs in UltraVNC. I'll see if they fix them soon, otherwise I might need to do it myself, eheheh. Been practicing playing the drums more lately, which has been good. It's very satisfying, figuring out how to do new shit on em. Now it's dinner time, eh.
